Transferring R&D, Design and Engineering Functions to the U.S.
Ten U.S. R&D subsidiaries maintain 37 U.S.-based R&D centers currently employing more than 2,500 employees.
These technical centers expedite the evaluation of potential U.S. suppliers, both for local procurement and for export to Japan, and facilitate local supplier involvement in the early stages of new-vehicle development (known as "design-in").
